Art street

Short Walks from Bogota
  • In Colombia, street art is useful to express ideas and judgements,   Bogota's citizen create graffiti to emit their opinion about issues like politics and police. Also in Colombia, take advantage from indigenous culture, to add details and create a original image with a mix of different ingredients. In street art from Colombia you can see the development of the history, for example in Bogota some walls have holes like reflex of horror and scare from war, this holes were used to watch and defend from war.

Hide Subcultures

In these days, I read about cultural appropiation, the article was about an specific group that grew in Bangkok calling Coconuts. This group is a kind of immitation from the  Mexico's Gangster. Coconuts got some tatoos (Some of them asks to their wives about have new tatoos)and style from Mexican Ganster. According to the article the main difference between the coconuts and Ganster is  that Coconuts have profession like police and teachers. Coconuts admitted that this style represents their lives, despite they don't really know what is the origin of this social crew, and what are the really characteristics of the gangstesr. I learn from the video and the article we have a lot of lifestyles  to discover, for me was rare and new to know that exist this subcultures.

A dark problem!

Racism is a social problem which involves a big percentage of Colombian population. It's difficult live in a country that not respect your rights and it is difficult try to improve in several areas of your life with discrimination. In Colombia, discrimination practices are illegal, however in several places like night clubs or restaurant keep behaviours like right of admission, and do not let you access to that service because your skin color or your appearance. It sad find this kind of habits in Colombia and countries like Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Brazil. If you investigate about the history of these countries, you could appreciate that all have ancestry Afro. People who practice racism have made an excellent job, you can see often the results for example, in expressions like my title, you link dark or the black color with something bad, instead white color that often you relate with peace. We have a big responsibility, we should change these kind of thinking and making of our community improve about racism!
